We normally receive a high level of emails inviting us to events – please understand that we are no longer attending events! We have plenty to keep us busy at the other side of the website, social media feeds and in the near future! Please do not email us with lots of show booking requests, as it is just a waste of everyone’s time.
During 2017, we are concentrating on increasing the stock listed on-line and on bespoke and stockist orders, instead of our former normal monthly round of shows. After attending shows regularly since Hopscotch Handmade Gifts was launched in April 2009, we are no longer marketing at local events as the business has outgrown this labour and cost intensive route to market. This decision was made during autumn 2014.
However, on New Year’s Eve I was diagnosed with advanced terminal cancer, so the ability to drive about the country, with a van loaded with heavy bags of stock/gazebo/display props,from Brighton to Norfolk and anywhere in-between, has now become impossible.
My priority is now to continue creating beautiful new stock and to keep the website and national stockists full of lovely things for you all to purchase, whilst fighting this terrible disease. I was diagnosed with both primary and secondary cancer at the same time, having never had a day off work in over eighteen years of being self-employed through illness. I have no risk factors for the particular types that I have and have no genetic predisposition towards cancer. I was initially given six weeks max to live, pregnant. This was extended to six months life expectancy after I sadly lost my son. Having outlived this by over two years, I am sure that you will all understand that my priority is to keep my website stocked with beautiful new products and to keep my national stockists’ shelves full, and to stay as well as possible while I can.
Bespoke commissions are still taken, but please contact us first to check on lead times as these may vary depending on my health at the time of receiving the order.
